Nairobi, that vibrant, cosmopolitan East African city set on the edge of wild natural splendor, is about to get a little more vibrant. Check out these photos we just received of the still-under-construction Trademark Hotel, a spirited clubhouse for the city’s growing cultural and diplomatic community designed to reflect the exploding creativity and innovation of the Kenyan capital.

Opening in November in the bucolic Gigiri neighborhood, long beloved by expats, the 215-room hotel comes from the makers of Tribe, a pioneering lifestyle property that set a new benchmark for design-driven, high-end hospitality in the city when it opened nearly a decade ago. Trademark, like Tribe, features interiors by celebrated South African designer Les Harbottle (the man who famously filled Tribe with some 900 hand-sculpted artifacts from across Africa), which open to terraces and courtyards that enable guests to take advantage of Nairobi’s balmy, welcoming climate.

All of this sits at the doorstep of some of the city’s most compelling attractions, from the panoply of wares on offer at the Village Market, East Africa’s largest shopping, recreation, and entertainment complex, where Trademark guests can take advantage of the gym and rooftop pool with spectacular views, to the sprawling Karura Forest just a few kilometers away, with its Mau Mau caves, waterfall, and lush indigenous trees.
