We just received these under-construction images of The Hide, a remarkable new retreat opening its doors this December among the snow-capped peaks and valleys of Flims in the Graubünden canton of eastern Switzerland. An update on the classic Swiss chalet, the Hide is the latest bold creation of the Gothenburg-based, multi-award-winning design team of Stylt Trampoli, who recently gave us another Design Hotels member, Huus Gstaad. Incorporating natural materials and earth tones, The Hide’s design concept considers the dramatic natural surroundings, which are also ideal for skiing, hiking, and an array of other outdoor activities.
The project is the brainchild of restaurateur and real estate mogul Daniel Mani, whose popular venues include Restaurant Halle6, Fluss. Sushi Bar & Grill, Cortina Lounge, and Hotel Emmental. So it should be no surprise that the culinary concept will go above and beyond, helmed by telegenic star chef Adrian Tschanz, known as a wild child of the Swiss gastro scene. Guests can enjoy Middle Eastern-inflected fare at The Deli or fresh, seasonal, regionally sourced cuisine and locally reared dry-aged meats at The Restaurant, unwind at a 1000-square-meter spa with Finnish sauna, fitness center, steam room, and ice grotto, or head to the sprawling terrace to enjoy live DJ sets, cocktails, and spectacular views of the surrounding slopes.
