Citizen of the world and inveterate nomad Carlito Dalceggio draws inspiration from his many travels, cultivating a visual identity rooted in a tribal spirit gleaned on the road. This May, Dalceggio’s Mythologia Libre project will be taking over New York’s On Canal, a playground for the innovative to test out new ideas. Part personal expression and cultural interaction, Mythologia Libre is a multimedia life experience that disrupts the boundaries between painting, sculpture, poetry, music, film, installation, and performance. The show will include daily performances and special events throughout the month.
A public art enthusiast, the international artist has painted murals in cities across the world such as Rio, Mexico, and Montreal, and is a member of the Burning Man Collective Caravan of Light, for which he created his 2018 Nomad on Wheels mutant car. For Dalceggio, art is as much about the viewer as the creator: “For me, viewers are not spectators. They’re going to go in, and they’re going to leave their energy within a piece, and it will transform the meaning of the painting because every person will add to the story,” he says.
We’d like to invite you to an exclusive VIP preview of Mythologia Libre on May 3, 2019 from 8PM at On Canal, 332 Canal St, New York, NY, 10013. We have limited spots on a first come, first serve basis—just send an email to email@example.com.
