As the sun’s rays fall on the staggered cubed villa complex of Mason, interwoven by an abundance of tropical flora, you may find it hard to register that you are, in fact, on a beach in Thailand. Opening in early 2019, the ultramodern resort is yet another head-turning achievement by award-winning studio VaSLab, based in Bangkok, which is known for its angular Brutalist masterpieces juxtaposed with the lush setting of Thailand. Each of Mason’s 35 villas, positioned for first-class views of the stunning ocean backdrop, boasts a private pool, a spacious bathroom with an oversized bathtub, and a large sundeck terrace. Yes, Miami is still prime terrain for sun worshippers and party people, but in the past decade—particularly since the 2002 arrival of Art Basel—it’s come into its own as the vibrant, Latin-inflected cultural capital of the American Southeast. Little Havana and South Beach are the first flagship offerings from Life House, a new contemporary hospitality concept. The rustic natural beauty of New York’s Catskills region has long drawn vacationers from Manhattan and beyond. But lately the Catskills are seeing a revamp, as enterprising hoteliers and culture-makers devise offerings that appeal to a new generation. As of next year, you can add Farmhouse Catskills to that vanguard. Set within a heritage-marked (yes) farmhouse that dates back at least to the middle of the 19th century, the property sits among the rolling hills and sylvan river banks of Sullivan county, the heart of the Catskills and prime terrain for hiking, kayaking, golf, skiing, and more. This month, we’re thrilled to announce the addition of a whole slew of new member hotels to our global collection. We can’t share all the details quite yet, but four new destinations will be added to the map, including Bacalar, a town in southeastern Mexico near the Belize border where we will soon welcome a low-density alternative resort; the village of Wellington on the shores of Canada’s Lake Ontario, where a converted 1880s-era country inn is one of our newest members; and Gonnesweiler, a German town on the French border where a wellness-focused lodge will introduce visitors to the beauty of Saarland’s Bostalsee lake landscape. We will also add a dramatic cliffside hideaway amid California’s ruggedly breathtaking Sonoma coastline, as well as additions in Istanbul, Stockholm, Toronto, and Porto.
Watch this space for all the details on these properties and much more…
